(Moulton, AL) – May 22, 2026 – The Lawrence County Public Library will launch its 2026 Summer Reading Program, “Unearth a Story,” from July 7 through July 28 with free weekly programs, featured presenters, prizes, and reading incentives for children from toddlers through seventh grade at the Moulton Middle School Gym.

Registration for the Summer Reading Program will take place at the library from June 29 through July 3. Participants will receive reading logs and have the opportunity to earn prizes throughout the month of July by reading independently during the summer.
All Summer Reading events will be held Tuesdays at 2:00 PM at the Moulton Middle School Gym. This year’s presenters include the Lawrence County Extension Office on July 7, Alabama Ballet on July 14, Wild Alabama on July 21, and the Oakville Indian Mounds Education Program on July 28.
The 2026 Summer Reading theme encourages children to explore history, science, nature, storytelling, and creativity through educational presentations and independent reading during the summer months.
Children who continue reading during the summer help maintain and strengthen important literacy skills, while those who stop reading may experience the “summer slide,” a seasonal learning loss that can affect academic progress when school resumes.
The Lawrence County Public Library’s Summer Reading Program helps encourage reading, learning, and curiosity while making summer reading fun and rewarding for local families.
